THE LEVERSTOCK GREEN CHRONICLE
an in-depth history of one village in Hertfordshire UK.
I was privileged to know Sheila, who helped me to find out a great deal more about the history of her cottage.  Although I knew relatively little about her career, I knew enough to realise that her MBE was well deserved, and that it behoved me to find out more about her.  As a committee member for the HHLH&MS (Hemel Hempstead Local History & Museum Society), when we were discussing the 2019 programme,  I volunteered to give a talk on Sheila in November 2019, which gave me almost a full year to research her life and career in full.

I very soon discovered that there was a great deal more to find than I had imagined, and her life and career was extremely interesting.  It also let me to make contact with her daughter Jane, and several others who had know Sheila during her lifetime.

Rather than repeat my work twice over, I have decided to reproduce the Powerpoint slide show I presented to the HHLH&MS, having changed each slide to a jpg photograph.  The last few slides list all the source references and contacts that allowed me to put together this production. ( N.B. give link when available)  Of necessity I therefore do not hold the copyright on many of the individual photographs or pictures of newspaper items shown.  However, as this is an academic exercise I will endeavour to include either a weblink or a reference to who does hold copyright on the individual items, nearly  all of which I was able to access  via on-line sources, so that they are already in the public domain.

N.B. I beleive that the above should read that the Symposium is in its 73rd year (not 93rd) in 2019.
